We have been led by the intelligence of nature and the wisdom of time-honoured tradition for 26 years and counting. Our work to continue regenerating ancestral farmland and supporting small scale rural farmers in India is made possible by inspiring customers like you.
A GRASSROOTS ORGANIC MOVEMENT
- Collaborating with farmers, transforming depleted land into flourishing organic ecosystems.
- Guaranteed to buy crop throughout the challenging initial phase of transitioning to organic farming.
- Organic India was born in 2001 to support a nationwide organic movement.
Pioneers in commercial Tulsi cultivation
It all started with three farmers who began cultivating Tulsi Holy-Basil, one of the most revered herbs in India. Tulsi had never been grown as a commercial product, as locals previously only had this herb potted in their homes for spiritual protection.
Tulsi is now commonly available in the conventional market; however, we pay substantially more, 3-4x above the conventional prices.
This has been our practice from the outset. As pioneers in commercial Tulsi cultivation, ORGANIC INDIA continues to set industry standards, ensuring that farmers receive fair prices.
NURTURING 8,500 ACRES OF ORGANIC FARMLAND WITH NEARLY 2,000 DIRECT FARMER PARTNERS
- Farmer Independence
- Generational & Small Family Farming
- Longstanding Partnerships: Over 15 years of partnership with 50% of farmers
In 2022-2023, we sourced 3,435 metric tons (7,642,467 lbs) of raw materials direct, disbursing over 2.3 million US Dollars to our direct partner farmers.
Nearly 70% of our crops are grown in the rainy season and require no irrigation.
“Regenerative organic agriculture” is the next logical evolution of farming standards and ensures everything from the soil, the farmers to their communities and the world is taken into account.
- replenished soil
- improved biodiversity
- enhanced water conservation
- increased carbon sequestration
While we have always practiced regenerative organic, we are pleased to now be officially Regenerative Organic Certified®.
Through this certification, we are verified for practices beyond Organic and Fairtrade.
370,000 ACRES CERTIFIED ORGANIC IN PARTNERSHIP WITH INDIAN FOREST DEPARTMENT FOR WILDCRAFTING AND FOREST CONSERVATION
- Traditional skills preserved and knowledge passed down.
- Protecting against deforestation and overharvesting.
- Preserving Organic Wild Forests for Generations.
ORGANIC INDIA FOUNDATION (OIF) HEALTHCARE CLINICS COVERED 9022 PATIENTS BETWEEN 2022-2023
- Established in 2006, providing free outpatient care and educational campaigns to farming community members.
- Each day, around 30 to 40 patients come seeking medical help at our Azamgarh clinic.
- Educational sessions on sanitation, water, hygiene, nutrition reached 6715 participants in 343 workshops (2022-23).
More than 50% of our overall raw material volume is acquired directly from independent farmer partners, while the remainder we source directly from value-aligned organizations that uphold the same rigorous, organic and equitable standards.
Holistic Quality & LEED Platinum Certified Manufacturing
Testing starts at the farm, with pesticide testing at the soil level. Every batch of herbs is tested for heavy metal levels and a wide variety of other contaminants by a third-party IOF/IEC certified lab.
We own our own factory, this rare in our industry and important because we have control of human health, quality, worker welfare, employee wellbeing and our carbon footprint.
Accredited for meeting the most stringent environmental criteria under LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), our buildings prioritize both physical and psychological wellness factors:
- Human Wellbeing: Employees of LEED-certified buildings experience improved health, happiness, and productivity.
- Renewable Energy: Solar power generated onsite contributes to 6.5% of the facility’s total energy consumption.
- Resource Conservation: We recycled/reused 83% of all waste generated at our manufacturing facility, diverging 96.7 MT from the landfill.
STRONGER TOGETHER FOR A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
- Collaborating with various nonprofit and community-based organisations dedicated to global and local environmental conservation, such as Rodale Institute, Regenerative Organic Alliance, Climate Collaborative, and OS2.
- Engaging with impactful brand ambassadors who exemplify our Healthy Conscious living values and conduct wellness initiatives nationwide.
- Proudly certified as a B Corporation since 2015 with a current score of 125.
- B Corps redefine the purpose of business, shifting from solely pursuing financial gain to embracing a holistic approach that values its impact on both people and the planet.
MORE THAN A BRAND, ORGANIC INDIA IS A GLOBAL MOVEMENT, A LIVING ECOSYSTEM AND A STORY OF HOPE AT A TIME THAT THE WORLD NEEDS IT MOST.
It benefits everyone involved – the land itself, the farmers, the neighbouring communities, the global wellness community and the entire planet. If India, the newly-most populous country in the world can switch to Organic, what kind of impact does that have on the planet at large? On food security? On land preservation?ORGANIC INDIA is a huge step forward to an Organic Planet and Organic Future for all.
We used the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a baseline to measure our impact and guide our strategy. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are a collective blueprint designed to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all by 2030. While ORGANIC INDIA’s impact touches upon all 17 goals in some way, shape or form, we’ve specifically identified 12 of the 17 goals in our Impact Report.
